Heart Failure Information Everyone Needs To Know

Valveular heart disease can be caused by Rheumatic heart disease. Degenerative heart valve disease is more common than Rheumatic heart disease. When the heart valves fail to function properly an enlarged heart and progressive heart failure will result.

Your heart can fail to work when it is unable to pump effectively the blood to the rest of the body. It can happen for a variety of reasons including coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, cardiomyopathy, and also because of valveular heart disease.

Coronary artery disease is when there is an impaired functioning of the heart muscles. The result is that the heart becomes weak, resulting in heart failure. Balloon angioplasty or bypass surgery is the usual treatments for heart failure. Progressive heart failure usually results in "end stage heart failure" and death.

If a person has long-term untreated high blood pressure that can lead to heart failure when the heart becomes enlarged.

Cardiomyopathy is when the heart muscle becomes progressively weak and the heart is unable to pump blood properly. Cardiomyopathy can result from a viral infection. If the patient is unable to recover, heart failure results.

Valveular heart disease can be caused by Rheumatic heart disease. Degenerative heart valve disease is more common than Rheumatic heart disease. When the heart valves fail to function properly an enlarged heart and progressive heart failure will result. Surgical treatment is usually what cardiologist will recommend for valveular heart disease in order to surgically repair or replace the damaged heart valves.

Heart Diseases

People with cardiomyopathy suffer arrhythmia or they can also experience sudden cardiac death when the heart muscle suddenly stops beating. There are many different kinds of cardiomyopathies including the most common form called ischemia. There is also alcoholic cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, hypertensive cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, inflammatory cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and restructive cardiomyopahty. Cardiovascular disease affects the heart and or the blood vessels, especially the veins and the arteries that lead to and come from the heart. Women usually suffer from diseases of the heart vessels where men usually suffer from diseases of the heart muscle. Heart Diseases

Cardiologist will tell their patients that prevention of heart disease is easier than treatment for heart disease. Some heart disease risk factors are controllable in other words you can reverse the risk factors such as the risk factor of smoking. You can quit smoking in order to reduce this risk. The risk factors of high blood pressure and high cholesterol can be controlled with medication, dietary changes and exercises.

Approximately 2.5 million individuals in the UK have heart disease and approximately 12.6 million Americans have heart disease. The most common risk factors for heart disease in those who died from heart failure were high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking and diabetes. There is one American woman dying of heart failure every minute as a result of heart disease.

There is something you can do about heart failure. Protect your heart. If you have high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, or diabetes see your doctor regularly, monitor your disease closely and do your entire can to manage and control your disease so that you can prevent heart failure. If you smoke quit...period.
